Who We Are | What We Believe

Learn about our Program

What defines Ohio Prospects: Players …Everything we do is for the players benefit and best interest.

We are here to teach & develop these kids, not only as hockey players, but as good, young people.  Youth sports teaches so many life lessons and will help these young athletes grow into quality adults.

Ohio Prospects has an organizational core philosophy that will be instilled by every coach for every team. How do we achieve this total collaboration? Collaboration by all the coaches and director working in sync. No matter the team, coach or age, all Ohio Prospects teams will work together and have a unified vision for player development. Our coaches will work together so that year to year and coach to coach the standards remain the same. Although, each coach will have their own routines, rules, and expectations, Ohio Prospects as a whole, will have rules, standards and expectations as a program.

We are looking to form a great group of kids and parents with the long-term goal to play at a high level. This is a process, just like a child has multiple years of school, hockey has multiple years of development. We are going to play hockey the right way, individually and within the team philosophy. We are going to play a competitive schedule. The focal point is not about playing top teams or winning as much as it’s about how we play hockey. We want to play a great brand of hockey, with creative, intelligent and hard-working players.

Ohio Prospects is coaching for the best interest of the kids and not egos. The goal is to develop each player and not just in this year, but over the next 5+ years. Our motivation is to do what is right for the players. We can achieve this goal together. This requires, support by all involved, players, parents and coaches. As a group, players, parents and coaches, we will have success & failure, face adversity, win & lose, learn, grow, create bonds and friendships all while having a ton of FUN playing hockey.

CULTURE

The culture and environment of our teams/organization is vital to the growth of all players this season. We want this to be harmonious and the reality is if the parents are not onboard, then the teams have zero chance. We are all here to help these young people become better each day, period. We cannot do it without the Parents support. Parents need to encourage & support the players. Please assist by reinforcing being coachable, work hard, be respectful & have fun. Keep in mind it will be Ok when we lose, do not get too low but also do not get too high, try and stay grounded.

The long-term view is the goal for our players. The questions to keep in mind are in 5 years will these players have proper practice habits? Will they have a strong work ethic? Is their knowledge of the game where it should be? And have their skills been properly developed?

As a member of our organization, we are all representing Ohio Prospects. Once we enter a rink, hotel, restaurant, etc. we are representing Ohio Prospects. We expect everyone, player & parents, to conduct themselves accordingly. We will be respectful to all, which includes, our teammates, our coaches, our opponents, their parents, rink employees, referees, anyone else associated when our teams are playing.

All parents will be respectful of each other and other players on the team. We will only talk to you about your child, we will not discuss other players or compare them to each other, this goes for tryouts, practice or games. If a parent is openly critical of teammates, parents, or coaches we will have to take measures to cease this behavior. If this continues to occur, this could result in suspension of a parent from the rink and up to removal of a player from a team. This is a very drastic measure that we would hope never has to be discussed and would not be something we would enjoy.
